Should I put everything into my system?

A common question I get from new clients as we're starting to put projects into their system is "Should I put everything in?"

The straightforward answer is "yes" - but that means your system can quickly become overwhelming, time-consuming and unwieldy. When that happens you'll stop using it.

So how do you decide what to put in?

If it's something you care about it, if matters to you that this thing gets done and gets done on time, if you think it's got any value now or later, then yes, put it in your system.

(Either in your live projects that you're working on now or in a list of ideas that you might want to work on in the future.)

If it doesn't matter to you then don't bother.

Perhaps the best way of deciding is to ask: "Will I be bothered if this thing doesn't happen?"
