"Sorry, I forgot"

"Be reliable. Unreliability can cancel out [the] other virtues."

Charlie Munger

Sorry I forgot to…

  • Send the email.
  • Make the call.
  • Forward the contract.
  • Put it in my diary.
  • Charge my phone/laptop/watch/...
  • Renew the licence.
  • Check my diary.
  • Check my voicemail.
  • Order the part in time.
  • Ship the order.
  • Do what I said I was going to do.

"Sorry, I forgot" leads to lost sales, missed deadlines, unhappy customers, broken relationships, overwhelm, stress, guilt, and a lot more besides.

The problem is if you're relying on your memory then "sorry I forgot" is always going to be part of your world.

P.S. If you ever catch yourself saying "I'd better do this now or I'll forget" then treat it as a red flag. Every "I'll do this now in case I forget" increases the chances that "I'm sorry, I forgot" is going to be coming along sooner rather than later.
